THE SCRATCHING POST: SAUNDER’S FARM REDOUBT
8 foot cube
wood, found objects, latex house paint,
The Scratching Post: Saunders Farm Redoubt makes reference to the Revolutionary War defensive fortifications found near Saunders Farm. The Scratching Post is also informed by Japanese Tea Rooms, Native American Hogans, Sweat Lodges, Sabbath Day Houses, pre fabricated structures and white cube galleries.
The Scratching Post houses a collection of “garbage mandalas”, the most notable of which is The Saunders Farm Mandala – This piece is site specific and created entirely from found objects discovered on the farm and from elements related to the construction of the Scratching Post.
